Forgiveness on 9-11

  • By the way, forgiveness does not mean that the offending party wants the forgiveness. In that case, it is not received and they don’t benefit from the forgiveness.
  • By the way, forgiveness does not mean that the offending party is given the go ahead to offend again.
  • By the way, forgiveness from the depths of your heart doesn’t mean that your feelings and emotions must follow this act of the will done in God’s grace. Your feeling and emotion might be screaming for hatred and revenge. Whatever. We are weak in this world. But we can make an act of the will to forgive in God’s grace. That does us a great amount of good. “Pray for those who persecute you!” Remember that teaching of our Lord? Yep. Wouldn’t it give great glory to God for a terrorist to turn to the Lord, I mean truly, honestly? Yep. And we must desire that. Otherwise, our lives are dictated by terrorists, and that’s not good, is it? Nope. See the first two bulleted points above.

O.K. So this is the best memorial of 9-11 I’ve seen. Let’s pray for all who have died: Hail Mary…

20 Exorcism tips from Holy Souls Hermitage – Stalin, Hitler, Pol Pot, bin Ladin…

It’s become the fashion in the past number of years to hold that there is no man who can be so evil that he would, without being totally possessed by Satan, be maniac killers like Stalin, Hitler, Pol Pot and bin Ladin, among so many others. This is wrong headed.

Even the most cold-blooded murders, even in the millions, tens of millions, hundreds of millions, are as nothing compared to the one death of the Son of Man, the Son of the Immaculate Conception. My sin did that. I’m already worse that all these others. The horrific torture and death of Jesus is what He had to go through so that, in justice, He would have the right to have mercy on us. That’s how evil sin is. Jesus did not die to redeem Satan, who is unredeemable, as he doesn’t want to repent, ever. Jesus died to redeem us. Again, our sin did that, not Satan’s sin. Why say that we cannot be so evil as to kill each other off, when we’ve killed off the Son of Man? Of course, you can’t kill Life. He rose from the dead. An exorcist needs to have a sense of sin consonant with the reality of the torture and death of Mary’s Son. He did not die for nothing, as would be the case if Satan could be blamed for all the evil that happens. Using Satan as a scapegoat for mankind is an insult to Jesus. Note well: God will not be mocked!

Having said all that, well, I mean, sure… Satan will surely want to facilitate the evil that we come up with, cranking it up and exaggerating in every way, getting as much evil as he can from us. Satan knows we are too weak and stupid to be as evil as he is, so he will do what he can to assist. Perhaps such people were fully possessed. Whatever. People can also be terribly evil. In absolving such people of all sin, saying they never committed any sin because, really, the “devil made them do it”, is perhaps a bid to absolve ourselves of sin, so that we can have a license to kill, to do whatever sin we want: If such horrific murderers can be called innocent, why not us? Sure, all hell broke out on Calvary, but all of that was occasioned by and only went so far as what our own sin demanded.

I remember reading a bit of an interview with Pope Benedict (or was it still Cardinal Ratzinger), the bit where the interviewer asked whether someone like Hitler could be saved. The answer reminisced about the theology class the young seminarian Ratzinger was taking, the one which included a discussion, one day, as to whether someone like Hitler could be saved. Another student said that since he was in error, and perhaps even sincere in that error, perhaps he could be saved. Ratzinger said that it was at that moment that he understood fully that error does not justify; only God’s grace justifies. Sincerity gets no one anywhere. Without the grace of God, it gets one only as far as hell.

Bottom line: Look to Christ crucified when you want to know how evil our own sin is. Know also how eager, in looking to Christ crucified, that Satan is to encourage this evil. Know that possession isn’t necessary for this evil to take place. Know that it is even probable that possession is what is happening in such cases.

This is the best memorial I’ve seen. But even better is prayer for those who died. Let’s take a moment of silence and pray for them: Hail Mary…

Let’s pray for the repose of the souls of those heroes who with no thought to thier own safety, gave their lives to save others if they could. Hail Mary…

Let’s pray for others who are being formed to be such heroes, and they don’t even know it. Heaven will tell the story. Hail Mary…

Let’s take a moment of silence to pray for those who have died in the effort to quash terrorist activities until this very day, in particular ST6 and those whose efforts have only been known to the Lord. We owe them a debt of support and prayer: Hail Mary…

Father Mychal F. (Robert Emmet) Judge, O.F.M., chaplain to the Fire Department of New York, one of the first in to help and the first in the death count, dying in service of his neighbor, whoever that neighbor happens to be. Thanks, Father, for the example. Laying down own’s life for another covers much rebellion, doesn’t it? And we can pray for the repose of the soul of priest, can we not? Let’s take a moment of silence to pray for the repose of his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, especially of all those who gave their lives trying to save others: Hail Mary…

Thanks to all the police, military, fire-fighters, doctors and nurses, EMTs, to all and sundry who helped on that day and in the following years…

Here’s the patch used by Ladder 24 of the Fire Department of New York. Note the little cross on the patch over the white stitching to the top right corner of the title “LADDER 24“. That’s for the chaplain…

Again, let’s take a moment of silence to pray for all the souls in purgatory who have no voice to ask us for their prayers: Hail Mary…

HSH stands in solidarity with those who protect the U.S.A. from aggression against non-combatants and those who protect non-combatants. Let’s say a prayer for them too, including those who visit this site: Hail Mary…

Included are our friends at the Department for Homeland Security, L-3 Communications Corporation, Battelle Memorial Institute, Navy Network Information Center (nnic) (of the Navy Network Warfare Command; Headquarters, Usaisc (United States Army Information Systems Command); Nova corp. [for Mission critical stuff]… All branches of the military and support, and all our security friends in the FBI, CIA, and all our friends overseas, particularly in המוסד. Thanks!

Solidarity with all victims and families of whatever race, color, creed, nation…

BTW, HSH reminds all to pray for the Holy Souls in purgatory. Hail Mary…

BTW, the moment of silence thing that is so popular these days was originally an Irish thing from time immemorial. The moment was not meant to respect those who didn’t want to pray or who didn’t share one’s faith, blah, blah, blah.

The moment of silence was meant to be a prayer for the Holy Souls in purgatory. They are without a voice to ask us to pray for them. Let’s take a moment of silence right now, and in that silence, pray for the Holy Souls: Hail Mary…

UPDATE: As one faithful Irish reader of HSH pointed out: “Ah, I’m not surprised they entered into silence on Skellig Mhichil:
