Benefactors! Thank you. (+1)

  • Thanks go to R.T.G. & J.A.G. for their gift to the hermitage, saying: “We know thou dost protest against any and all solicitations… however, ‘Me thinks, the Hermit dost protest too much.” /// Hmm… No I will have to shout and scream all the more, let it be thought that I am, in fact, soliciting donations, which I’m not, because I can’t. Hah! /// Thanks also so much for having me included at the Christmas Mass at the Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament!
  • Thanks go to G.P.E. & S.M.E. for their regular gift to the hermitage. Very kind.
  • Thanks go to P.M., for her gift to the hermitage. Thank you!
  • Thanks go to Charlene, Godmother of Pornchai, who sent in the video of his graduation. Now, I will have to figure out how to convert that to a format that can be uploaded to the blog. I’ll put up another post about that, with some particulars of the file names. Yikes!
  • Thanks go to J.M.D. for her gift to the hermitage, and for her support of PGJ! Very cool, that.
  • Thanks go to C.T., for kindly including me in the Marytown Christmas of Masses running until January 2nd. I am very grateful. Thank you.
  • Thanks to anonymous, who has sent in Laudamus Te for Christmastide from Magnificat Press. Very thoughtful!

  • Thanks go to… I dunno… Anonymous… who sent in this book by Father Benedict Groeschel, C.F.R., with its preface by Cardinal Timothy Dolan:

  • Thanks go to… anonymous… (surely not THE ”Anonymous”) for two Poor Clares T-Shirts from the wishlist. The purchase of these T-Shirts helps them build their new monastery not far from Holy Souls Mountain, which is also where the new diocesan seminary will be. Totally awesome! Here’s a link to their website page which includes two videos on the progress their making: HERE.

  • Thanks go to C.D. for the book on deaconesses. This reminds me of the class on priesthood which I taught to the seminarians at the Pontifcal College Josephinum a couple years back. I must say that quite a few of them were very well prepared, knowing all the authors. I haven’t yet read this work, but it is high on the list. Thanks for that.

  • Thanks go to C.W. for the Mystic Monk Hermit’s Bold Blend coffee. All hermits are BOLD, right? Hah! Very thoughtful.

UPDATE: Thanks go to J.W.M for his gift to the hermitage, against all my protestations! Thank you!

May the Prince of the Most Profound Peace continue to bless you all according to the perfect intercession of His Immaculate Mother.

Seeing the Cross in all things. Holy Souls Hermitage and the Poor Clares of Perpetual Adoration

florae blech 4

I spotted this scene about a hundred yards down Holy Souls Mountain, a red oak that broke off up in the canopy of the forest and then found itself as a cross beam some fifty feet long and about twenty five feet up. Yikes!

This immediately reminded me of another scene quite a few miles down the mountain and over the way, toward Charlotte, N.C., on the property where the new Saint Joseph Monastery of Perpetual Adoration of the Poor Clares of Perpetual Adoration (of Mother Angelica fame) will be established. This is also where the new seminary for the South-Eastern United States is going to to established, please God. This picture was taken when Mother Dolores and others were out investigating the property:

So, why mention this during Advent?

Because our Lord came among us, was born among us, to die, that is, to take on the worst we could give out, death, so that He, remaining innocent, would have the right in justice to have mercy on us, to give us life in heaven after we finish the course here on earth of the just consequences of original sin. This is the greatest love ever. The cross is glorious. We boast of the cross of the Lord, of His great love.

To the Poor Clares of Perpetual Adoration: I am guilty as charged. Pray for me.

Hah. Guilty as charged. And proud of it. Yours truly was there in solidarity (months ago) as you can see I think twice in the video. Let’s put it up again. It’s most inspiring and lively. They are so full of joy in the Lord. What a tender moment. My heart and soul are stirred up with enthusiasm in the faith.

More recently, Mother Prioress of the Poor Clares of Perpetual Adoration, made sure that I had the booklet on spiritual motherhood put out by the Congregation for the Clergy some years ago. I think that that is a hint that they are praying for me. Obviously, if you follow this blog, you’ll know that such prayers are greatly needed! Thank you, Mother!

Their webpage is here:
http://www.stjosephmonastery.com/

They are founding a new monastery in the Diocese of Charlotte, not terribly far from Holy Souls Hermitage. On the monastery grounds, there is going to be, please God, a new Catholic seminary for the Diocese of Charlotte and all around. The Catholic Church, you have to know, is growing in this diocese. We love vocations!

Oh, and something else I stole (actually, they emailed this to me):

Sister! You’re just soooo dead, living for Christ Jesus alone! The coolest Poor Clare profession video ever! These nuns rock!

Sister Mary Immaculata, P.C.P.A. — Poor Clares of Perpetual Adoration, Solemn Profession in the great Diocese of Charlotte, N.C. In the photo above the funeral pall is being draped over her, for she is now dead to the world so as live only for Christ Jesus. Yikes! The funeral pall. Underneath, she’s in dread joy. Yep. Dread joy! The magnificence of the majesty of the Son of God inviting her to be given totally over as a living sacrifice of intercession for the members of His Mystical Body of whatever time or location. The magnificence of the majesty!

See how happy! True blessedness. Bishop Jugis is always thrilled in this great faith of ours especially, most evidently to all, on the days of ordination and profession, a true Father of the Family of Faith. Sister Mary Immaculata is rejoicing in such joy. The Holy Spirit!

Here’s a video you can see on their website. Note that the music is very cool for the video. The Mass of Profession was, of course, loaded with Latin Gregorian Chant!

Vocations, anyone!?!?!? Go to their site and check them out!

Don’t forget, they are trying to build a monastery. Are there any of you who can help?!??!!??

Divine Mercy Solemn Religious Profession: Poor Clares of Perpetual Adoration! Another epic journey

Pictures not in order! Here’s the newly solemnly professed Sister Mary Immaculata of the Divine Shepherd at the altar. She just had her name inscribed on the Heart of Jesus, and now Mother Dolores Marie is sealing the marriage with her own signature. Totally. Awesome.

Here she is getting blessed by the great Bishop Peter Joseph Jugis of the Diocese of Charlotte, N.C., so that she might worthily fulfill her vocation at the very heart of the Church, the Sacred Heart of the Church…

She receives her marriage ring!

This was a concelebrated Novus Ordo Mass. In Charlotte, it’s all about Saying the Black and Doing the Red! I appreciate that. I think that concelebration should be “safe, legal and rare” as the Z puts it. Note here the Benedictine arrangement. That’s yours truly receiving the Most Blessed Sacrament from the Bishop.

At the reception afterward. Please note the total and unfeigned joy radiating from the good sisters. This is the joy of the Holy Spirit. This is the joy that attracts vocations to the Sacred Heart of the Church. You ladies who are reading this blog… what about you?!?!?! You young men out there, are you hesitating about a vocation to the religious life, to the priesthood? Know that you will have such as these praying for you. Call up your vocation director today!

Here’s the adoration chapel. Note that our Lady is looking to her Son Jesus in the tabernacle, whom she held in her womb for nine months, and whom she holds in her heart by grace.

The young artist, far right, also with his eyes almost closed in this picture! The others are the assistent at the Cathedral, a wonderful young priest, a member of the extended family I know (small world)! The next over was a past student of mine at the Pontifical College Josephinum, a great friend looking forward to doing some mountain climbing on Holy Souls Mountain in the coming months. The young lady is one of the most wonderfully rambunctious shakers and movers in the Catholic Church today. She is a most member of the Knights of the Holy Sepulcher, whose Cross of Jerusalem I was to sport at the Holy Sepulcher itself this time last year.

Finally, here’s Sister Mary Immaculata of the Divine Shepherd during greetings after Holy Mass.

The day was wonderful. Also, I had the opportunity to avail myself of the Lord’s mercy, going to confession to a great priest. I believe that good vocations are born also from frequent participation in this great sacrament. It brings one great joy and very close friendship with our Lord Jesus. When’s the last time you’ve been?!?! Today is the day of salvation! Let’s live the Easter Joy our dear Lord came to bring us. He is, in fact, just that good, just that kind.

Poor Clares and, of course, T-Shirts!

Click the picture to get your T-Shirt, which supports the Poor Clares of Perpetual Adoration at Saint Joseph’s Adoration Monastery in the Diocese of Charlotte, North Carolina. Unlike the Mystic Monk Coffee for the FSSP, Fr Z, et al., I don’t, can’t benefit from this sale. All proceeds wonderfullly go to the good nuns. They are using the proceeds to build a new Adoration Monastery (What. A. Name!) in the diocese. They are now in inappropriately cramped quarters. They are getting vocations. The project is wonderfully moving forward. These are the most enthusiastic, joyful, super-Nuns you would ever want to meet, and I have, many times, both at their present quarters and, until they are enclosed in their new monastery, at the ordinations and the Chrism Mass here in the diocese. So, do you think you need a(nother) T-Shirt. I think you do! I’m going to harrass you readers with this! Sorry! Well, I’m not sorry. Hah!

You’ll have to click on the picture to see what the various fronts of the T-Shirts are like. The above picture is of the back of the T-Shirt only.

And, no, this T-Shirt is NOT the habit worn by the good nuns. They are very traditional Poor Clares praying away for you and for me and for great vocations and for the priests and…

Here’s their most recent newsletter (PDF). Inside you can read about their own version of an Immaculate Conception Chaplet. Very different from my Emergency Chaplet of the Immaculate Conception, but very theologically enthralling.
