   I counted at least eight Cardinals that made no attempt to kiss the ring. What does it mean, when you don’t kiss the ring or bow, etc.?

   Was that Cardinal Dolan who gave no sign of reverence to the Holy Father? Dear heaven, whoever it was, I don’t know what to think, not wanting to be guilty of rash judgment!

   Indians have such a beautiful way of gesturing in reverence. Watch the Indian cardinal as he bows and touches the Holy Father’s hands to his forehead.

   Being old school, we used to kiss the hem of the Priest’s Cassok. It would appear that certain Cardinals were showing disrespect for the office of the Pope. They do not have to like the person but the Petrine Chair must be respected. Perhaps they bowed or kissed his ring before the video was made….

   Cathy, sometimes people just have had no education in these things. Pope Benedict did seem a little surprised, however.

   Well, I am quite shocked by Cardinal Dolan! He strolled up to the Pope as if he were out for an afternoon walk and stopped to chat! Maybe with the chatting he forgot why he was there or what he was supposed to do. I am very surprised…and disappointed too. They should forbid those older cardinals from kneeling (or trying to) and then pulling on the Pope to get up! I thought some would bring him down! What a fright that would have been!

    Vatican.va video has the entire final meeting with the Cardinals. Pictures can be worth a thousand words sometimes. The sights and sounds indicate good reason for dismay – or maybe Cardinals Dolan and Weurl were protecting Pope Benedict XVI from flu or ?
