I didn’t get a picture, but I should have.
Update: He seemed to have come back two days later, on the 11th. I was passing the neighbors who were out working in the garden, and we all heard — along with the dogs — a sharp metallic noise just up the ridge, not on national forest property, but on their property. Just for the record.

Accompany me, Father George David Byers, S.S.L., S.T.D., as I begin life as a Catholic Priest-Hermit by choice. Holy Souls Hermitage is dedicated to the sanctification of my fellow priests, bishops, deacons & seminarians going through the purgatory of this life or the next. Prayer and sacrifice go up, of course, for both Benedict XVI and the next Successor of Saint Peter.

Father; do you think it could have been a bear? I would be scared out of my wits if that were me. God Bless you and wow did He (God) ever leave you a present when you found her.
Judy: Yes, Laudie is a treasure. Today it was no bear.
Please be careful Father! Will you keep us up to date?
Praying for you!
Sending an SOS to St Michael for your protection.
Please be very, very careful. I often take my emotional cues from my dog. She is very prescient. Glad that you have Laudie to protect you.
And the snow was on Boston this afternoon. Sounds like you got out just in time!
Oremus pro invicem.

Thanks, Jennifer. You might want to be careful that they’re not taking their cues from you first! Pets are super wonderful. And cats might balance dogs out a bit for that matter. But also take in the fact we are to walk heart and soul with the living God, who provides/permits the circumstances we are in as occasions for us to look to Him, and with a unity of charity far beyond anything we can come to know on this earth. Jesus is just that good, just that kind. Every moment.
Do you have a bright spotlight or large, powerful flashlight for when this ‘zombie’ approaches after dark? Assuming this is a person and that you might already know who it is, shining a light on them might discourage their pranks a good bit. (The sound of a cartridge being racked into place in a shotgun also does wonders in discouraging mischief-makers).
This guy would aim at the light first, then spray some bullets around that. He carries a .38 special and a derringer as a backup at all times. But he’s also a coward. If he really wanted to do some harm, he’d hire someone. It seems he may have had a connection with already having contracted someone in the past (NOT for me). I’d want to just stay out of their way. Better that way.
Our Lady will protect you. Praying for your safety. Also praying for the Zombie.
