Buses of those protesting homosexual “marriage” arrive in Paris despite sabotage. The pro-one-man-one-woman=true-marriage crowds are edging toward 1,000,000 individuals. I’m counting those who didn’t register or come in a bus. And that number is, of course, just the tip of the iceberg.
A small percentage of marchers, but large enough to be remarkable, in this crowd are active homosexuals who agree that any call for homosexual “marriage” is just plain stupid, and that that is not at all what they want.
The march was not at all anti-homosexual-person. Instead, the point was about the children, for there is also legislation aimed at encouraging homosexuals to adopt. The marchers say that the child needs a father and a mother. And any scientific study comparing kids raised by homosexuals and kids raised in a real family starkly point out the deficiencies of the homosexualist situation.
But the socialist crowd already know you’re going to say that. And don’t care. The point isn’t at all about homosexuality or tolerance or nicey-niceness. Really.
Update: 1,300,000…
Update:
An official of the French Army asked St. Bernadette once whether she feared an invasion of the Prussians. She responded, “I only fear bad Catholics.” He responded, “Don’t you fear anything else?”—“No, nothing.”
Every man in a Christian society should “strive according to his intelligence and strength to keep himself entirely in the holy service of God”—Charlemagne.

Accompany me, Father George David Byers, S.S.L., S.T.D., as I begin life as a Catholic Priest-Hermit by choice. Holy Souls Hermitage is dedicated to the sanctification of my fellow priests, bishops, deacons & seminarians going through the purgatory of this life or the next. Prayer and sacrifice go up, of course, for both Benedict XVI and the next Successor of Saint Peter.

Thanks for posting this, Father. My grandpa was there and sent the following message:
Interesting to see ebg’s grandfather’s comment on Sunday’s Manif pour Tous in Paris. I took part too walking from the Place d’Italie to the Champ de Mars. (Were we glad to finally see the Eiffel Tower!) There was a great Carnival atmosphere as people gathered from all over France. The aim united both Left and Right – there were numerous Mayors present recognisable by their red white and blue sashes – and people of all faiths or no faiths.
One of the chants was ‘Ne touche pas au Code Civil’. It was not only the Sacrament of marriage which was being upheld but Civil marriage too.
When attending Mass in Notre Dame on Saturday evening I expected mention to be made of the demo. There were announcements about Organ concerts there, the 850th celebrations and information on two special stamps being issued by the French Post Office. But no mention of the march. Sad. However many Priests were in evidence (some even in soutanes!) and other religious took part. Cardinal Barbarin and Mgr Podvin took part too.
Cardinal 23 turned up at the Place Denfert-Rochereau to wish everyone well. He has explained that whilst upholding the movement he would not be marching with Cardinal Barbarin. ‘J’ai un moyen de relations avec les autorites de l’etat (being the president of the Bishops’ Conference in France) gouvernement et president de la Republique qui me permet de leur transmettre des messages et de leur adresser des opinions. Je n’ai donc pas besoin de manifester pour le faire.’
It was a long walk – 3 1/2 hours – but I am proud to have taken part. When I was starting to flag and wondering whether I would make it to the destination in one piece one young Priest made my day by commenting ‘Vous etes courageuse madame!’ It was the encouragement I needed to continue to the end!
Whether it will make the French Government change its mind I do not know but I am pleased to be able to say that ‘I was there.’ The British government here is planning a similar law allowing for Same Sex Marriage and a thousand Priests have signed a letter to the Daily Telegraph this weekend. However no demos seem to have been planned here. We English are not as demonstrative as the French!
