U.S. Department of State and Holy Souls Hermitage

They didn’t go to the blog’s main page, but immediately to these two articles:

HSH, bringing the new evangelization to abortion-monger diplomats of the world. Thanks be to God.

And they spent 9 minutes 27 seconds with you too!

  2. Dear Fr George
Not being American, I have no idea of the import of this post about a major part of your government having an unhealthy interest in your Blog, but I do know that the State Department is not something to be messed with. Therefore, all the more do I greatly appreciate your having taking the time and gone to the trouble of reading the email I sent you and then having made its contents available to your followers.

Now 60 years of age (though looking nothing like it!) when I was a High School student my PP was Cardinal Tom Winning. Oor Tam’s devotion to family life, real family life, didn’t have to rub off on me: St Luke’s parish (Diocese of Motherwell) under our future cardinal, and even before, was predicated on the Catholic family in harmony with our neighbours, of any religious persuasion or none. Only a fool would meddle with the Union of Catholic Mothers and their neighbours on Bingo night.

You may know that when Pope Paul VI was asked what he thought about sex equality, he replied: “Italian mothers will never allow it”. He must have visited Motherwell in 1934 when he came to Scotland in search of the Loch Ness Monster. For neither would Scottish Catholic mothers.

Mothers all over the world, and amazingly and most especially, those you will have seen filmed on TV in the most tragic of circumstances as they seek to nurture their new-borns at their ravaged breasts, neither want nor need “equality” or “women’s rights” or “reproductive rights” a la the Gates of Hell (can’t remeber her first name): they only want their bairns to thrive.

In my younger days I was a medical student at Glasgow University (dropped out, long story). One of our Professors was Ian Donald who developed medical ultrasound in mdwifery — I know, I know, there will be some American claiming he done it; just like with that stupid film about Ultra and the Enigma machine. Professor Donald wasn’t knighted because of his opposition to the Abortion Act 1966. What here in the West of Scotland we call a “Proddy”, like my dear lady wife, Prof Donald should at least be beatified, never mind post-humously knighted.

    Orrabestorratime, Hughie.

  3. Hugh: You did great work. It’s cases like this that fuel Obamacare mania right around the world. The DoS is most interested in following everything about this.

The Department of State drops in more or less regularly, as does the Department of Justice, as does the Department of Health and Human Services, as does the Social Security crowd (it being that the FBI once changed my name without my permission in order to protect me from nefarious crowds at the time), as does the Department of Treasury, as does the Federal Reserve, not to mention the Federal Reserve Board[!], as do even dozens of various H.Q.s of the Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security, NNIC, USAIC, etc., etc., etc. Most of these, of course, are not nefarious, but just drop in for a read of this of that post, usually of the spiritual kind. We have, of course, some great, faithful Catholics in all these institutions. I’m hoping, actually, that the visit from the Department of State was a moment of grace for the reader.
