Happy Birthday to the USMC — Just in time for All Veterans’ Day

A little less flashy, from my dad, who flew combat missions in Guam, Philippines, Japan, China and Korea, besides teaching the guys how to fly in Washington and Chicago:

Did I mention that Holy Souls Hermitage supports our Military? Here’s what Dad flew:

Of course, that one isn’t decked out with machine guns and bombs. But it does sport his squadron’s checkerboard detail, with the famous WR on the tail. Dad was the squadron leader.

Now, don’t forget the story about six marines and thirteen hands (an absolute must read).

Don’t forget that Sunday is Vets Day (Monday being an added day).

Thank the vets you see.

A Right On for your marine Dad ! !
My Dad was a sailor . And gosh ! it gives me much pleasure remembering his tales of life onboard a navy vessel and their particular mission in the Mediterrean .
    Psalms 33:12-19

My father and my nephew were in the USMC. My daughter inlaw is currently in Naval Intelegence as an instructer. Three of my 8 children served in the military. I think that every young should serve thir country either in the military or in an other capacity for a minium of 2 years. There should be no exclusions.
Happy Birthday to our brave warriors in the USMC and may God in his devine mercy bring all our young men and woman home safely.
    Blessings to all

  3. Vanessa: of course, those verses you cited can be taken as the foundation for words SEMPER FI!, that is, Semper fidelis, that is, Deus est semper fidelis! God is always faithful! The motto of the USMC.

12 Happy the nation whose God is the LORD, the people chosen as his very own.
13 From heaven the LORD looks down and observes the whole human race,
14 Surveying from the royal throne all who dwell on earth.
15 The one who fashioned the hearts of them all knows all their works.
16 A king is not saved by a mighty army, nor a warrior delivered by great strength.
17 Useless is the horse for safety; its great strength, no sure escape.
18 But the LORD’S eyes are upon the reverent, upon those who hope for his gracious help,
19 Delivering them from death, keeping them alive in times of famine.
20 Our soul waits for the LORD, who is our help and shield.
21 For in God our hearts rejoice; in your holy name we trust.
22 May your kindness, LORD, be upon us; we have put our hope in you. (Psa 33:12-22 NAB)

  4. You must be proud of your Dad. Happy Veteran’s Day. :)
