Hi Father George, I thought I would give you an update on little N. He was scheduled to get another round of chemo but before they can do it his ‘numbers’ had to be checked. His mom says:
“N. had a blood test done to see if he “makes” the levels that are needed to become inpatient and start this next cycle. Well that next cycle is taking forever to happen because N.’s ANC needed to be above 750.His ANC is 0. Yes ZERO. To put it plainly, he has no immune system.I’m still mesmerized how he can function so well with NO IMMUNE SYSTEM. I still can’t believe it.
So any small germ that he would encounter could/WILL make him sick….thus ending him in the hospital.
We are so blessed – all of the (other) kids are healthy (phew!!!), and life is continuing as typical, but – we are just so surprised with N.’s counts. He doesn’t look bad or act any different.
Last night poor guy woke up vomiting. These meds are rough. If we don’t get the anti-nausea meds in him, that is how he typically starts his day.
So, let’s see what happens tomorrow, although, I am not worried about what tomorrow holds since He’s already got it all planned out. We just need to surrender and give it over to Him.
At least tonight there are no late night football games ….with some weird referees. At least I know MY ref makes ALL the right calls.”
N.’s parents are coping and although their faith is simply amazing – they need prayers too. This is hard for them – it’s been nonstop since June 1st.. Please keep N. and his parents and siblings in your prayers.
I found a black widow spider crawling on the living room wall this evening and killed it. I thought of you.

Accompany me, Father George David Byers, S.S.L., S.T.D., as I begin life as a Catholic Priest-Hermit by choice. Holy Souls Hermitage is dedicated to the sanctification of my fellow priests, bishops, deacons & seminarians going through the purgatory of this life or the next. Prayer and sacrifice go up, of course, for both Benedict XVI and the next Successor of Saint Peter.

Praying for little N. and his parents.
Yes, God bless little N. and his parents. I appreciate the update and the reminder to pray. I so admire their faith, but I also imagine such a situation would be so exhausting. He’s such a little sweetheart! Prayers!
Asking Charlene’s intercession for Little N.
Prayers for little N. and his family and medical staff; also for the intercession of Little Nellie of Holy God.
Prayers indeed. What a remarkable family.
It’s “funny” that you should post this, since I was just looking at my prayer list (which has been growing exponentially in the last few weeks), and I noticed N., and was wondering how he was doing. May God bless him and his family. I cannot imagine going through something like that.
