Cristeros martyrs and an analogy with the way things are going in the USA. Yikes!

I’ve added the Cristeros film “For Greater Glory” to my wishlist for my future reference, as I’d like to draw some analogies and really give this a big push before the upcoming election. Yikes! here

    Things certainly seem to be going downhill here in the USA but in some strange way I am really not all that worried. Did not our Lord tell us not to be anxious? Lately I’ve been trying to meditate on our Lords teaching of not being anxious. Ultimately if we do our best and cast our cares on Him, our Lady, the Saints and the Angels no matter how dark it may get—gulags or torture chambers even—when we draw our last breath we will be there with Him for Eternity. There’s that old saying that we ought to look at everything “in the species of eternity” which I think is really helpful.

    As circumstances get more trying here in the West we Catholics can bring others to the Faith by our serene example in the face of suffering and hardship. The “new evangelization” has a nutrient rich soil with which to germinate into the “new springtime” Blessed John Paul II often spoke of but the nutrients will come from suffering, death, injustice and hardship. If we can keep our eyes on Christ and help our fellows somehow through our example then whatever happens will ultimately be OK.
