Saint Monica and Saint Augustine and a Jackass

Just thinking about Monica and Augustine, and the little brother today. The power of persistent prayer, but free will as well. Yikes! The prayers of many, methinks, are an occasion by which the Lord provides us the grace to have a heart so restless that it cannot rest until it resteth in Him, in fact, in heaven. When one fellow complained that he was unworthy of the Lord’s attention, Augustine reprimanded him, saying, “Asinus es, sed Christum portas!” (You are a Jackass, but you carry Christ). How restless our hearts are. It’s as if we’re carrying them outside of ourselves showing them to the Lord Jesus, Mary’s Son. It seems to me that I am such a Jackass… Thanks be to God! Must be the prayers of many, for which I thank you. Yikes!

  2. FR. Byers im in a distraut mood today not that I wasnt yesterday, but anyway I was going around visting Funeral Homes to make arangements for myselfand while I was out side I got aphone call on my cell and it was good news I was aproved for more life insuranc which I needed .bad, I thought tomyself Theres God again.Thats not my sismay but I was felling so elated that I decided to go to The Church The Good Shepard to see about about enrolling my Godson in the Catholic school, guess what they shut it down! dont have a priest no more either. It makes me mad that in the poor neighborhoods thats where they pick on shutdowns.I already know what your responce is , that because not enough money is donated to support them. Ok but what of the millions of dollars that is in the treasurey in the Vaticant.Instead of dishing out hundreads of thousands of dollars to the accusers without any proof that the priest are guity or inocent or helping to defend them.I see when they show film of the Vaticant numerous priests are walking aroud there who are studying for something or another why dont they go where they are most needed inthe Parish now more than ever. Than the question is always on the lips of poeple why are kids not pratiseing there faith, because the Catholic schoolthey where going to shut down. The Bishops and Cardinals better get out inthe streets where they can see the truth not from there window of there plush Office. If I insulted someone or angered someone Good, maybe it will also wake up someone

  3. Actually, my answer to that, if one is needed, is that of Mother Teresa of Calcutta. We don’t need more priests. We need good, holy priests. I know from your comment that this is exactly what you were trying to say. Use your being upset as zeal to pray for good, holy priests and bishops! Hail Mary… Our Father… Glory be… Oh Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee!
