At Holy Souls Hermitage, we’re in solidarity with Chick-fil-A!
And here’s of shot of my friends down the road a few hours on Chick-fil-A appreciation day itself (h/t The Crescat at Patheos.com)…

And here’s the Superior General of the Fathers of Mercy in line at Chick-fil-A, about to be interviewed by the bgdailynews.com…
Just a little fun. Innocent. Non-violent. But there is a serious side to this.
As we already see in some jurisdictions around the world, if Catholics or any other Christians do not approve and witness homosexual “marriages” in their churches, they are breaking the law. This is how tyrranny which tosses democracy out the window works. If something is permitted in man’s law, that law will soon require all to follow it. Sinners are not content to sin; they have to insist on raping the consciences of others, trying to force them to do what their consciences will not permit.
Remember Sodom and Gomorrah? All the men, young and old, wanted to gang rape the visitors of Lot, the entire town mind you, the young and the old as well, mind you. They were using extreme violence. They were so intent on this crime that cries to heaven for vengeance, so blinded to all things except their own lust, that when they were physically blinded by divine intervention, they ignored even this, still attempting to gang rape the two visitors of Lot. They were upset that Lot would judge them. Lot didn’t want to violate his conscience by letting his guests be gang raped by the entire town. This infuriated them. He wasn’t allowed by them to have a conscience.
What’s going on with this? They gang rapers feel that they are not allowed to have a conscience because of their lust, that they must follow their lust. Any expression of conscience on the part of anyone throws them into violent oppression of others, to kill off the presence of that conscience in their midst. This is the path America has chosen with the present Administration. “We want to rape the consciences of all, and damned be all who say not!” scream the Sodomites and Gomorrahites of America.
Meanwhile, the two visitors of Lot escape, as does Lot and his relatives. Hah! At least heaven is, please God, our refuge. But his wife looks back, turning into a pillar of salt. Did she have a nice little house there? Did she think her neighbors were cute, and didn’t deserve hell-fire and brimstone?
Meanwhile, without the hell-fire and brimstone, probably all of them would have gone to hell. Instead, it seems that at least ten were saved in the conflagration if one looks at the logic of Jesus’ words to Tyre and Sidon. So, catastrophy can be a great thing for souls in view of eternity. Let’s not forget that our Lord loves us all. He wants even the worst of sinners to be saved and to have the joy of humbly thanking Him in eternity with all the rest of us greatest sinners in the world.
And, by the way, we are all the greatest sinners in the world, no matter what. Why? Because the Lord loves us individually as well, and with a unique love just for each of us, giving us a name that only He and that person know. Pretty cool, huh? Yep. But that also means that if we sin in any way, we offend that love for each one of us in a way that only each one of us can do, meaning that, in that way, we are the greatest sinners in the world. And we must come to know this before we get to heaven, either in the purgatory of this life or the next. We have to know how much our Lord did for us to save us, each of us, individually, before we can go and have the joy of thanking Him. We can’t thank Him unlesss we know what He’s done. Always ask for the grace to know more clearly, simply — and with thanksgiving — our Lord’s love for us. He’s very good and very kind, and wants us in heaven.
Those of you reading this who are on the Sodom and Gommorah side of things at the moment — and there are those of you reading this who are on that side of things, as I’ve come to know in email – know that the Lord totally wants what is best for you. He can accomplish this. Trust in Him. Are you weak? Who isn’t in whatever way? We all look to Him whom we have all crucified by our sin. And He draws us to Himself to forgive us, make us whole, and make us holy, overflowing with His charity and fellowship, presenting us then, oh my… as a gift to our Heavenly Father. Such love! Yikes!
Nota bene: There is a distinction to be made! Homosexual feelings can come about for a variety of reasons. This is a cross to carry. Jesus commanded us to carry the cross, but to look to Him, follow Him. Don’t be afraid of the cross. Let it be an instrument that lets you know how weak you are. Let it be a way to know just how far our Lord had to reach to get us. This knowledge is an occasion, then, for thanksgiving for the Lord’s goodness and kindness, an occasion, then, of great joy, that is, in looking to the Lord.
One doesn’t need to follow up on feelings or even emotions for that matter, however strong. Let’s just say it: homosexual acts are clearly against nature, the way God made us, and are wrong. But there is hope.
Thowing oneself headlong into homosexual acts, like any other type of sin, is to fall headlong into a bottomless pit, from which the Lord can save, but in which, like the Sodomites and Gomorrahites, one might not want to be saved, not because one is enjoying the fullness of life, but because one will not have the humility to beg the Lord to be brought into fullness of life. If one is being given the grace to turn around, as with any other call to conversion in the midst of any other sin, today is the day of salvation! Don’t hesitate. Turn to Jesus. How, you ask?
- Ask Him point blank for the grace of chastity, starting this second.
- Ask Him point blank for the fortitude to cut bad “friendships”, starting this second.
- Ask Him point blank for the grace to go to confession… today, so that this second you find out times for confessions, or make an appointment to see a priest today.
- Ask Jesus point blank for the simplicity to look to Him for stength instead of to oneself.
- Kneel down right now and ask Him, humbly…
Now, ask our Blessed Mother for her intercession on your behalf…
Now, ask your guardian angel to help make this happen…
Now, google “catholic church” along with the name of your city, and get some phone numbers, and go to confession…
Meanwhile, I’m praying for you. Go!

Accompany me, Father George David Byers, S.S.L., S.T.D., as I begin life as a Catholic Priest-Hermit by choice. Holy Souls Hermitage is dedicated to the sanctification of my fellow priests, bishops, deacons & seminarians going through the purgatory of this life or the next. Prayer and sacrifice go up, of course, for both Benedict XVI and the next Successor of Saint Peter.

Awesome post! Don’t ya just love those beautiful Nuns? I love the Fathers of Mercy as well. My Pastor has hosted several week-long missions with them and they were so holy and happy. My mom’s parish in the White Mountains of Arizona hosted the fathers and my mom was really amazed that the priest, who was giving the talk, knew about my cousin, Little Cajun Saint, Charlene Marie Richard.

I need to update her page.
Yes, please update the that page on the little Akkadian “Cajun” saint! Is there anything new???
Chick-Fil-A sandwiches are made with MSG, HFCS and anti-foaming chemicals. Some of us are worried more about our health. They do get a gold star for closing on Sundays.
HSH has its own chickens!
And, anyway, Mystic Monk Coffee via WDTPRS is better than any “grande” at Starbucks for the same reason!
From the Diocese of Lafayette about the Annual Mass of Petition Marking the Death of Charlene Richard.

I have also written to a family member that is very much involved with Charlene’s cause to see if he has anything further to add. Will let you know and I should probably put it on her webpage.
Father, here is the latest on the Mass concerning Charlene Richard.
