Update: Verizon and HSH

Since my 3rd party 4G antenna/converter/rebroadcaster was hit by lightning, I’ve been looking into another solution. Satellite is way too expensive. But Verizon itself has just come out with a deal for their own antenna/router system: here.

If I was in a position to solicit donations, I would ask if any of you (those in the United States) are willing to simply own the two year contract for this home fusion thing on behalf of Holy Souls Hermitage. However I can’t solicit donations!

If you wanted to force something like this on me against all my tantrum like protestations, send an email to holysoulshermitage using gmail dot com. I’ll put you in contact with the local Verizon shop which is now offering free installation and a waived startup fee.

What’s the purpose of the internet for this hermit?

Primarily what I would call popularization research. The main research, already done, has nothing to do with the internet. Part of the deal of my being a hermit is to popularize such things as my thesis on Genesis 2,4-3,24. It takes much background side issues to popularize anything.

Secondarily, the blog, which helps me to come to grips with various issues in the Church, including the spiritual life, the plight of many priests, and so on. Much of what I write will be based on what I learn in this way. Learning is always a two way street.

Thirdly, for communications with some rather important contacts right around the world, not to mention updates on what’s happening in the world, not unimportant for a hermit!

Also, I’ve been wanting to do a homily series, but I’ve been limited by the lack of bandwith.

O.K. So, you get the idea. Meanwhile, I’m not soliciting donations! I’m just venting my frustration. Please excuse me for that!

UPDATE: Perhaps the single most influential internet provider on the planet will be helping me out with this side aspect of Holy Souls Hermitage, against all my protestations, of course.
