Just wondering if ye all have shrines for our Blessed Mother. A reader sent in this picture of a shrine she just built. Very wonderful indeed!
I’ll add to this as you send in pictures. Check back frequently!
UPDATE: O.K. So… From Down Under. Inspiring.
I hope those of you without shrines are getting some ideas. I’ve often made outdoor shrines for our Lady in different parishes I’ve been in. Of course, doing something outdoors is not always a possibility. I’m sure some of you also have indoor shrines…
Steven has a NEW BOOK. For details, see the comments box.
He and his new wife live in an apartment complex, and so can’t have an outdoor shrine at the moment. They pray before the shine every night. She’s an Anglican thinking about coming in to the Church. Remember Anglicanorum Coetibus? Pope Benedict is the Pope of Christian Unity.
UPDATE: Woo hoo! Here’s another. There’s clearly a construction genius in the family. This is just so wonderful! …
We just made one, at the suggestion of our priest and we love it. It’s in the woods in a little clearing in which our children play (sandbox, swings, etc tucked away) and still a work in progress – I planted bleeding hearts and Lenten roses too although you can’t see them from the picture. I was inspired by your pictures of lady slippers – how fortunate that you have them wild – to purchase them – yikes! She’s in full shade so I won’t be able to have Her surrounded by bright flowers (other than cut ones) and we are still in negotiations with the deer as to what can remain and what is just too delicious to stay. LOL! Thank you for posting the pictures, they are beautiful.
Just to say, there are flowering shrubs that may love the kind of soil you have there. Google it!
UPDATE: Now, here’s an idea. See the box? That’s for prayer petitions. That reminds me of my years as a chaplain in Lourdes. I would bring printouts of petitions sent in by readers to the grotto and place them in the box there. Great idea. I hope all these pictures are incentives to readers. I’m going to try to hunt down pictures on the internet of shrines I’ve made at different places. Don’t know if I’ll be successful.
