Actually, this was just a bit of paper to get some smoke to come out of the chimney. I couldn’t resist the photo op. I put up just one section of pipe with the cap. That won’t be sufficient for the long term, but I might be able to start a real fire in the stove to get some radiant heat, whatever the state of the unfinished walls. There’s still about 150 square feet of would-be wall space that is uncovered even by plastic. Still hoping to get something down on Monday, if the roads are travel worthy. There’s suppossed to be a bit of snow and ice through the week.
CHICKENS! The neighbor said that double-yolk eggs are laid by the rooster. None of those, yet.

Accompany me, Father George David Byers, S.S.L., S.T.D., as I begin life as a Catholic Priest-Hermit by choice. Holy Souls Hermitage is dedicated to the sanctification of my fellow priests, bishops, deacons & seminarians going through the purgatory of this life or the next. Prayer and sacrifice go up, of course, for both Benedict XVI and the next Successor of Saint Peter.

White smoke, eh Fr.? Have you been promoted?
“CHICKENS! The neighbor said that double-yolk eggs are laid by the rooster. None of those, yet.”
Some joker that neighbor!! Isn’t it nice to have a neighbor who likes kidding around?!.
God Bless and keep warm and well. I continue to pray for you [Thanks so much for the prayers!]
A little bit cheeky, but still safe, even for a hermit, I hope: The rooster song
Good luck with the chicken, Father! I pray you get things isolated a bit before the winter really hits. [Careful, good Doctor. You could get arrested, at least in your country, for posting such a comment. Not very politically correct!]
I would say to minimize window square footage. The more windows the harder to keep the place warm on long cold winter nights. Plus lots of windows makes for a uncozy ambiance. Another trick might be to use inexpensive 4 ” metal duct tubing to bring in out door air to use for combustion in your wood stove rather then use indoor air for combustion. One reason is you don’t want to burn up your oxygen in the wood stove and another is by burning up your indoor air with the wood stove you have to have cold drafts to replace that air with outdoor air causing cold spots around floor and walls. If you make your building air tight then it is dangerous to use the woodstove because it will use all the indoor air and there will be no air left for you to breathe. [Hello Tom! That's a great idea, and I think it would work well with the stove I have. It'll be a good while before the place is air-tight however, if ever. Well see!]
Father,
No worries about the thought-police. They’re way too busy rounding up those who are against the massive bailouts of Greece cs with taxpayer money, pensions and everything we own.
Oh wait… I’ve spoken out against that too. Maybe I should be really caref
