Being from Minnesota, I’ve never seen hoar frost before. Conditions are perfect for it in this mountainous rain forest. After the gentle soaking rains these past days, a cold front came in and dropped the temps down to about 19.99 degrees fahrenheit. These grew to three and four inches long.

The two army blankets did well for sleeping in the forest (in the unfinished hermitage), but I noticed that even with the plastic blanket from the Fathers of Mercy, they are not rated for these temps. Hopefully, the stove will be operational soon! I bet the exploding down gets here first however.

Note how it lifts up anything on the ground, thowing it up in the air. Frost and snow, praise the Lord!

Accompany me, Father George David Byers, S.S.L., S.T.D., as I begin life as a Catholic Priest-Hermit by choice. Holy Souls Hermitage is dedicated to the sanctification of my fellow priests, bishops, deacons & seminarians going through the purgatory of this life or the next. Prayer and sacrifice go up, of course, for both Benedict XVI and the next Successor of Saint Peter.

Awe-some! And, what could be even more remarkable…I figured out how to leave a comment! (Hope I remember what I did!!!!!)
