The next window, a set of three in one, I hope to put up in this space today. The little desk is to be used to cantalever the window into place. There will be some lumber in place to support the window when its up high.

That little desk is a throw away of the pilot for Howard Hughes (rather old, as you can imagine!). He was donating some computer junk to the Soup Kitchen and threw in the desk as well. Since no one wanted it when I returned to the soup kitchen, I grabbed it to get it out of the way of the dumpster, knowing that I could use it for cantalevering to put up the window, and then put it below the hermitage for storage of some outdoor things.
I also brought up about eighty pounds worth of spaghetti squash saved from going into the dumpster. It will be wood stove cooked. Mmmm, mmmm, good!I’ll have to add that one to the hermit recipes page. I don’t think I’ve updated that page in about six months. There are some really good recipes. Some pretty frightening!

After the window goes up, I’m hoping to make some progress on putting a few bricks on the floor where the stove will be, and for the wall behind the stove. Safety is essential with this kind of thing. Not all the wood-stove vent pipes have come in yet. The Italians say, “Beh! Santa Pazienza!” (Oh, Saint Patience!).

Accompany me, Father George David Byers, S.S.L., S.T.D., as I begin life as a Catholic Priest-Hermit by choice. Holy Souls Hermitage is dedicated to the sanctification of my fellow priests, bishops, deacons & seminarians going through the purgatory of this life or the next. Prayer and sacrifice go up, of course, for both Benedict XVI and the next Successor of Saint Peter.
